Introduction to bioinformatics

The purpose of this blog is about bioinformatics. Before we start, let me introduce to you a bit more on what is bioinformatics...Here we go!

What is bioinformatics?
  • An application of computational techniques to analyze the information associated with biomolecules on a large scale.
  • It consists of wide range of subject areas from structural biology, genomics to gene expression studies.
By definition, it means a subject or study that conceptualizes biology in terms of molecules and applying information techniques to understand and organize the information associated with these molecules, on a large scale. In short, it is a management information system for molecular biology that has many practical applications.
